![]() ![]() So, after lots of ups, downs, lefts, rights and d-pads. This feels more like a cheap controller knock-off from China, than a retail Nintendo product. When I press LEFT, it's LEFT and nothing else, no matter how I angle or move my thumb. The ZR button is on the right side along with the CPP R button, and the ZL button is on the left side below the 2DSs L button. Not even my worn out, almost 35 year old Famicom controller with original membranes does this. I thought I was going crazy, until I realized, that it's the horrible d-pad.Ī good d-pad shouldn't do that. While running left or right, the character would stop every so often and look up or crouch, while I'm still firmly pressing LEFT or RIGHT. This is especially annoying when playing games with 4-directional inputs, like Xeodrifter. While pressing LEFT or RIGHT, the tiniest bit of upward or downward pressure (while having the thumb nowhere near the physical UP or DOWN part of the d-pad) will register as a diagonal input. ![]() I can live with the loose and mushy feel of the d-pad, but the unwanted diagonal inputs are annoying and infuriating. Gentle prying will be necessary to pry if from the back of the circle pad. Be aware that the pad is pressed into the back of the circle pad on the front of the case. It's design is questionable, but if it helps expanding the market with the younger audiences, then this is great. Remove the two 7.5mm phillips screws using a PH000 screwdriver. Maybe Nintendo has to add an "if you play The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, please note that." piece of information to the box.īut whatever, I think that the Nintendo 2DS is a smart move on Nintendo's end. Find spare and replacement parts for your Nintendo DS, 2DS or 3DS handheld games console, so you can fix, modify and enhance your console with ease. So, the game is still beatable, but how are you supposed to figure out the solution on a device that can't be closed? The puzzle is weird enough on a Nintendo DS, let alone on a Nintendo 2DS. You can't close the 2DS, you can however turn it into Sleep Mode. How are they going to add a Circle Pad Pro to this thing?Īnd with Phantom Hourglass the Sun Key puzzle, which required you to close the Nintendo DS, will probably be impossible to solve on your own. The missing second slide pad was already ridiculous on the 3DSXL, but this time there's no excuse. You could probably add three slide pads to it. This time it really has the space for all of this. The only weird thing is the fact that they again left out the secondary triggers and the second slide pad from the Circle Pad Pro extension. The Nintendo 2DS looks like it can take a beating. The normal Nintendo 3DS is an easily damageable device, I'm really worried what might happen if it falls down, especially in its open state. It's cheaper, it doesn't have the questionable 3D effect and it looks more robust. ![]()
